Allianz Life has revealed a significant data breach, with hackers allegedly stealing the personal information of the majority of its customers, financial professionals, and employees. This breach occurred on July 16, 2025, when a threat actor accessed a cloud-based CRM system through social engineering techniques.
The incident has been attributed to an ongoing series of attacks within the insurance sector, connected to the hacker collective known as Scattered Spider. Allianz Life’s parent company serves over 125 million customers, making this breach potentially extensive and concerning for the insurance industry as a whole.
Itch.io, the popular indie game marketplace, recently deindexed adult and not-safe-for-work games from its platform following external pressure from the advocacy group Collective Shout. This move came after the group criticized the sale of the game “No Mercy,” which depicts controversial themes, prompting Itch.io to comply with payment processor expectations to protect its operations.
Meanwhile, Aeroflot, Russia’s national airline, was forced to cancel or delay more than 50 flights due to a cyberattack that significantly disrupted operations at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. The attack was claimed by pro-Ukrainian hacktivist groups, including Silent Crow and the Belarusian Cyber-Partisans, who alleged they had destroyed 7,000 servers and accessed sensitive passenger data.
