Proton has announced the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV) under the new sub-brand Proton e.MAS, set for December 2024. The EV will be built on the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform, co-developed with Geely, supporting various EV setups including BEV, PHEV, and HEV. Proton e.MAS aims to establish a dealership network with 17 dealerships already appointed and plans to increase this number to 30 by 2025. The e.MAS models will feature a new logo design and aim to provide comprehensive customer services including sales, vehicle service, and EV charging facilities.
Proton aims to expand its EV dealership network for the Proton e.Mas sub-brand, targeting over 20 dealerships across Malaysia by the end of 2024. The company is evaluating over 50 applications for new dealerships and has already appointed 17 locations. Proton is also collaborating with EV Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to enhance charging infrastructure and aims to cover over 85% of EV charge points in Malaysia by the end of the year. The first Proton e.Mas EV is expected to launch in December 2024.
