Gentari, a Petronas green energy company in Malaysia, has migrated its membership plan from JomCharge to the new Gentari Go app. This transition offers a 1-month extension to members as a token of appreciation. The Gentari Go app, available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, provides a 50% discount on all EV chargers within the Gentari EV charging network. This move aims to ensure continued access to discounted rates across Gentari chargers nationwide. Members are required to download the Gentari Go app and verify their account for the migration, with the transition period allowing the use of the JomCharge app until March 31, 2024.
The Ring Car Cam, a product under Amazon’s Ring ecosystem, has been discontinued due to unclear target market identification. Despite innovative features like using the OBD-II port for power and a “traffic stop” mode, the Car Cam faced challenges in the competitive dashcam market, including its high price and the requirement for a monthly subscription. This discontinuation marks a setback for Ring in the automotive security space.
Canada has introduced draft legislation requiring major social media companies to promptly remove harmful content, including content that sexually victimizes children or is shared without consent. The proposed Online Harms Act in Canada would impose fines up to 6% of a company’s gross global revenues for non-compliance and aims to enhance protections for children online. The bill also proposes to increase the penalty for advocating or promoting genocide to life in prison, part of Canada’s efforts to protect children from online predators and reduce the spread of hate speech.
Inkitt, a self-publishing platform utilizing AI and data science to identify and develop potential bestsellers, has raised $37 million in Series C funding. Led by Khosla Ventures, the platform, with 33 million users and numerous bestsellers, plans to expand its content offerings, including personalized stories, games, audiobooks, and more video content. Inkitt aims to become the “Disney of the 21st century” by leveraging AI to create a diverse and engaging content library. The funding will also support the company’s exploration of AI-generated stories and the expansion of its multimedia empire.
