Meanwhile, the Czech government has implemented a ban on the usage of services from the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek in public administration. Prime Minister Petr Fiala stated that the decision comes as a response to rising national security concerns regarding data privacy and security, highlighting the global wariness surrounding foreign tech firms.
Amidst these tech developments, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) addressed concerns from customers regarding erroneous high energy consumption readings in the myTNB app. The company confirmed that a technical glitch resulted in misleading graphs but clarified that actual meter readings remained unaffected. Users can now once again access the graphs after TNB rectified the issue.
Tech Explained
E-commerce – E-commerce refers to buying and selling goods and services through online platforms. TikTok Shop’s update highlights how digital marketplaces are adapting to enhance consumer satisfaction with policies like extended return periods, fostering a more competitive online retail environment.
Open Source – Open source implies that the source code for software is made publicly available for anyone to use, modify, and distribute. Hugging Face’s Reachy Mini showcases this ethos, allowing developers to customize and extend their robots to suit personal or community needs, enhancing innovation.
Privacy Concerns – Privacy concerns deal with the risks associated with unauthorized data collection, often by technology companies. The Czech government’s ban on DeepSeek is a prime example of how nations are prioritizing data security to protect their citizens from potential threats posed by foreign AI technologies.
