Pavel Durov, founder and chief of Telegram, has been charged in France for failing to curb extremist and illegal content on the messaging app. He faces multiple charges, including complicity in enabling illicit transactions, child pornography dissemination, drug trafficking, fraud, and money laundering. Durov was arrested at Le Bourget airport and released on bail with conditions to remain in France and report to a police station twice a week. The charges also include allegations of serious violence towards one of his children. Durov’s lawyer claims the charges are baseless, asserting Telegram’s compliance with European digital regulations.
