Singapore Joins UN-Endorsed Digital Public Goods Alliance: A Step Towards Global Open-Source Adoption

CTOS Data Systems Sdn Bhd (CTOS) has clarified that it will continue to provide credit reports to its customers and subscribers following a recent High Court ruling. The ruling stated that CTOS has no power to formulate credit scores, but the company argues this is unrelated to their lawsuit and plans to appeal. CTOS, a registered agency under the Ministry of Finance, asserts its compliance with the Credit Reporting Agency Act (CRAA) 2010 and its authority to provide credit scoring.

Singapore has joined the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA), a UN-endorsed initiative aimed at promoting the adoption and development of open-source technologies for digital public goods. The Government Technology Agency’s Open Government Products (OGP) accepted the invitation on behalf of Singapore. The partnership seeks to encourage the use of Singapore’s open-source products globally and to learn from international peers to foster innovation within the public service.

At SXSW 2024, filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as “DANIELS,” expressed concerns about the rapid deployment of AI technology. They highlighted the potential negative impacts of AI on society, including job devaluation and the alteration of human values. The duo emphasized the importance of using AI thoughtfully to create a better world, rather than for profit, and urged for a careful consideration of AI’s deployment.
