The electric vehicle market in Malaysia is buzzing with excitement as two major car manufacturers launch their latest models. BMW has introduced the Mini Aceman SE, a sleek electric hatchback priced at RM213,888. Positioned between the Mini Cooper SE and Countryman All4 SE, it boasts a 405 km range, a 160kW electric motor, and a 54.2kWh battery. The Aceman SE is designed for drivers seeking both performance and compact style.
Meanwhile, Sime Darby Motors has confirmed the launch of the BYD M6 electric MPV on October 15, 2024. The vehicle offers 6- and 7-seat configurations and features a 150kW motor with a range of up to 530 km. The M6 expands BYD’s growing lineup in Malaysia, which includes the Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal models.
In a separate development, BYD has sold over 10,000 electric vehicles in Malaysia since its entry in December 2022, solidifying its position as the top-selling EV brand. To mark this milestone, Sime Darby Motors organized a convoy to Melaka, celebrating both the achievement and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.
