Instagram’s Threads app now allows users to customize their “For You” feed by swiping right to like a post or left to show disinterest. This feature, announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, aims to personalize user experiences by showing more of what they like and less of what they don’t. Threads, a decentralized social media platform by Meta, competes with platforms like X and TikTok, which use similar mechanisms for content personalization. Despite having over 150 million monthly active users, Threads is still behind X’s 600 million but ahead of Bluesky and Mastodon in user numbers.

Snowflake, a cloud storage provider, has stated there’s no evidence its platform was breached in the recent Ticketmaster and Santander data breaches. The company, along with security firms CrowdStrike and Mandiant, believes the incidents were targeted attacks exploiting accounts without multifactor authentication. An earlier report suggesting Snowflake’s involvement has been retracted by the security firm Hudson Rock following legal communication from Snowflake.

The series promises significant performance and power efficiency improvements over the previous generation. The Ryzen 9 9950X, the flagship model, features 16 cores and 32 threads with speeds up to 5.7GHz. AMD aims to support the AM5 platform until at least 2027, with the new processors available from July 2024.

British scientists are using drones equipped with AI and reconnaissance sensors to search for a female Encephalartos woodii plant in South Africa’s Ngoye Forest. The endangered male cycad, discovered over a century ago, cannot reproduce without a female. The drones have explored a fraction of the forest, capturing thousands of images to identify potential matches. The project also explores the possibility of inducing sex change in the plant to aid its reproduction.
