Nintendo has announced a new mysterious playtest for its Nintendo Switch Online service, set to run from July 28 through August 10. Participants will test what is rumored to be an MMO-style game, following last year’s successful but secretive test.
Applications for the playtest will open on July 18 for gamers aged 18 and older with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Users from specific countries can apply either individually or as a group, with the company aiming to accept up to 40,000 participants.
In another significant move in the tech world, Cursor, the company behind the popular AI coding app, has acquired the CRM startup Koala to strengthen its competition against GitHub Copilot. By bringing on Koala’s top engineers, Cursor aims to enhance its enterprise offerings, appealing to businesses looking for superior AI coding tools.
Though Cursor will not integrate Koala’s product, it plans to leverage the skills of Koala’s team as the startup winds down operations. Koala had recently raised $15 million in funding, illustrating the varying fates of AI startups in today’s competitive landscape.
Cursor, which has seen considerable growth, reported reaching $500 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) as of June. The company has begun to expand its sales force, aiming to attract major enterprises while competing against other tech giants like Microsoft and Google in the AI coding space.
As these companies rush to scale their AI solutions, competition intensifies, especially with Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot remaining a popular choice among developers. The growing pressure in the coding tools market highlights the ongoing demand for productivity-enhancing technologies in software engineering.
