Roblox is launching an open-source AI system called Sentinel, aimed at safeguarding children from predators in its chat feature. Facing lawsuits alleging inadequate protection, the system helps identify dangerous language and has already flagged over 1,200 potential child endangerment cases in 2025.
The AI’s capability lies in analyzing massive amounts of chat data while considering context. Although Roblox imposes strict chat restrictions for younger users and prohibits sharing sensitive personal information, the task of detecting predatory behavior within seemingly innocent conversations remains a challenge.
In another significant development in the tech world, a Texas-based company, Fintiv, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing it of stealing trade secrets to create Apple Pay. The complaint highlights that Apple supposedly lured CorFire employees and accessed proprietary technology without compensation, generating billions in revenue.
This legal battle escalated after a federal judge dismissed a related patent infringement suit filed by Fintiv earlier in August. The case accuses Apple of corporate malfeasance and seeks both compensatory and punitive damages under trade secret laws and anti-racketeering statutes.
Meanwhile, in pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle infrastructure, DC Handal inaugurated a powerful 180kW DC Charger at a new Petron station in Rawang.
