The Browser Company has officially launched a Pro subscription plan for Dia, its AI-powered web browser, priced at $20 monthly. This plan offers users unlimited access to Dia’s advanced chat and skills features, although free users will soon face usage limits on some functionalities.
In related news, The Browser Company’s competition in AI-enhanced browsers is heating up. Notable rivals include Perplexity’s emerging Comet browser and Opera’s upcoming Neon browser, alongside major players like Google and Microsoft, who are integrating AI assistants into their existing platforms.
Perplexity has built an AI-powered search engine named Truth Search AI for Trump Media’s Truth Social. This tool promises contextually accurate answers and will soon be available for its iOS and Android apps, although the platform maintains control over the sources the AI can access.
Powered by the Perplexity Sonar API, Truth Search AI is designed to provide current information even from sites that restrict access to Perplexity’s crawlers. However, as a result, the AI’s outputs are limited to the sources Truth Social has chosen, sparking questions about potential biases in the retrieved information.
On another front, Trapo Malaysia has launched its i-Sight Dashcam S650, offering 2K video recording at 60fps and 24-hour monitoring for vehicle surveillance. The dashcam incorporates features like voice control and is available for prices starting at RM599, with a promotional free 128GB microSD card included.
Lastly, DJI has unveiled its first robot vacuum, the Romo. Featuring drone technology, the robovac boasts a unique transparent design and uses advanced sensors and machine learning to navigate obstacles in the home. It is set to launch in China soon, with a global release expected later this year.
Tech Explained
AI (Artificial Intelligence) – A branch of computer science focused on creating systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence. In the context of browsers and search engines, it enables features like predictive text, personalized recommendations, and context-aware responses.
API (Application Programming Interface) – A set of protocols and tools for building software applications. In this report, the Perplexity Sonar API allows Truth Social to integrate advanced search capabilities, enabling it to retrieve and format information based on specified data sources.
Dashcam – A camera that records the view through a vehicle’s windscreen and can provide crucial evidence in accidents. The i-Sight Dashcam S650 includes park monitoring and motion detection, enhancing vehicle security by capturing video while parked.
Laser – A device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. The DJI Romo utilizes laser sensors for navigation, allowing it to detect obstacles and maneuver effectively around them.
Machine Learning – A subset of AI focused on the development of algorithms that enable computers to learn from and make predictions based on data. The Romo robot vacuum employs machine learning to optimize its cleaning routes and avoid obstacles effectively.
