From PowerPoint to Gamma: New Ways to Present with AI

AI Community Sharing #1: Goodbye PowerPoint
November 10, 2024

Let’s talk about this super fun AI meeting we all attended! It was a one-hour session where people shared how they’re using AI in their work. Spoiler alert: despite the title, nobody actually said goodbye to PowerPoint!

PowerPoint’s New Friend: Gamma

Li Hong kicked things off with a presentation about Gamma, and here’s the funny part – she started by saying she still loves PowerPoint! But she showed us some cool stuff about Gamma:

  • It’s like having a helpful assistant who makes your first draft
  • She uses ChatGPT to create prompts first, then feeds them to Gamma
  • Smart tip: Save your creative energy for content, let Gamma handle the structure
  • Think of it as your presentation buddy who sometimes needs a little guidance

AI: Your Never-Sleeping Helper

Next up was Norazalin, who talked about using AI in her company, OrkedLab. She called AI her “tireless assistant who never sleeps.” (Just like our neighborhood owls, but more helpful!)

She taught us:

  • How to use Invideo.ai to make quick videos
  • Why using multiple AI tools works better than just one
  • Let AI do the boring stuff while we focus on important things
  • Make AI work for our businesses

Quick Tips from Ricky Soo

At the end, Ricky Soo answered three big questions that small business owners often ask:

  1. What kind of business should we start?
  2. How do we sell our stuff?
  3. How do we follow all the rules?

He showed how AI can help with all of these things, from writing business plans to figuring out complicated rules about e-invoicing. (Though AI still can’t clean our rooms – sorry!)

The AI Battle: Claude vs ChatGPT

Here’s something interesting – while everyone knows ChatGPT, Ricky mentioned that some AI experts actually prefer using Claude. Why? Because Claude is better at sticking to facts and not making stuff up. Kind of like that one friend in our group who always tells the truth, even when we want them to stretch it a little!

Want More?

Good news! There’s another meeting coming in December with Ricky Soo and James Chong speaking. If we liked this one, we’ll definitely want to catch the next session!

We love what Li Hong said: “When I get more lazy doing these things, I actually have more time to create and think of something else.” Finally, someone who gets that being lazy can be productive!

These monthly meetings are great for learning new AI tricks, whether we’re team PowerPoint, team Gamma, or just trying to make our work easier. Let’s join the next one – maybe we’ll pretend to say goodbye to something else!

P.S. Should we switch from PowerPoint to Gamma? Why not use both? It’s like having both pizza AND burgers – more options is always better!
