Dash0, a new startup founded by Mirko Novakovic, has launched as a competitor to Datadog. The company aims to address the high costs associated with observability in cloud computing by leveraging the open-source framework OpenTelemetry. Recently securing $9.5 million in seed funding, Dash0 plans to focus on product development before marketing to businesses with 50 to 5,000 employees.

In other news, a Philadelphia judge has allowed Elon Musk’s America PAC to continue its $1 million voter giveaways, despite concerns raised by District Attorney Larry Krasner. The PAC admitted that prize winners are paid spokespeople, not randomly selected, raising questions about compliance with lottery laws in Arizona and Michigan.

Lastly, Malaysia has announced plans to ban the registration of new natural gas vehicles (NGVs) by 2025 due to safety concerns surrounding aging NGV tanks. Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted the risks and repair costs associated with these tanks, with Petronas NGV phasing out services and offering support through a Transition Assistance Programme.
