Bowers & Wilkins has unveiled its latest high-end wireless headphones, the Px7 S3, set to launch in Malaysia on May 15, 2025. These headphones, priced at RM2,399, enhance audio fidelity and comfort, featuring improved noise cancellation and luxurious materials available in three color options.

To justify its premium price tag, the Px7 S3 incorporates advanced 40mm biocellulose dynamic drivers that significantly upgrade sound clarity and resolution. It also boasts a dedicated headphone amplifier and supports high-resolution audio streaming through Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codecs, promising an immersive listening experience.

The Px7 S3 is engineered for optimal functionality with its eight strategically placed microphones enhancing active noise cancellation (ANC) and call quality. Coupled with ADI Pure Voice technology, it ensures exceptional clarity during phone calls, making it a top contender in the high-end headphone market.

In another technological advancement, Microsoft has transitioned to a passwordless approach by default for new accounts. Users will now sign up using more secure methods, such as passkeys and push notifications, simplifying security while enhancing user experience with a redesigned sign-in window.

Smartwatches are becoming vital in managing extreme heat in Ahmedabad, India, where residents face escalating temperatures beyond 40°C (104°F). Participants in a study have been equipped with smartwatches to monitor health conditions and assess the effectiveness of reflective “cool roofs” in mitigating indoor heat during scorching summers.

The Ahmedabad study is part of a global research initiative aimed at understanding heat impact on vulnerable communities across cities in Africa and the Pacific. The aim is to explore practical solutions like cool roofs, aiming for broader implementation to help mitigate climate challenges facing underprivileged populations.

Tech Explained

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) – This technology uses microphones to pick up ambient noise and generates sound waves that cancel out the unwanted sounds, providing a quieter listening environment. It is often integrated into headphones to enhance audio experiences by minimizing distractions.

Passkeys – These are a secure authentication method that replaces traditional passwords. They use cryptographic techniques, allowing users to sign in without entering a password, utilizing device-specific biometric methods instead, such as fingerprints or facial recognition.

aptX Adaptive – This is an audio codec developed by Qualcomm that enhances wireless sound quality. It adjusts the audio streaming in real-time based on the connection quality to provide a seamless and high-fidelity listening experience, particularly beneficial in headphone technology.

Cool Roofs – These are roofing materials designed to reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat than standard roofs. By reducing indoor temperatures, cool roofs can help lower energy costs and improve comfort, especially in densely populated areas facing extreme heat scenarios.
