Bose recently announced that its SoundTouch speakers will lose key cloud-based features, including integrated Spotify access, starting February 18, 2026. Users will be unable to control their speakers via the SoundTouch app, with various functions affected, leaving many disappointed.
The SoundTouch line, launched in 2013, saw its cloud services updated over the years. However, Bose stated that maintaining support for the older technology has become unsustainable. While some standalone features like Bluetooth may still function, there’s no commitment to long-term performance or security updates.
In a separate development, the EU Parliament voted to ban meaty terms such as “burger” and “sausage” for plant-based and lab-grown products. The regulation aims to reserve these terms exclusively for traditional meat, posing challenges for the lab-grown meat industry, which seeks recognition as it matures.
The recent amendment passed 355 to 247, reflecting a rising political trend supporting local livestock farmers. This legislation still requires approval from the EU Commission and member states before becoming law and echoes a similar measure that failed in 2020.
On another technological frontier, OpenAI has integrated Spotify into ChatGPT, enabling users to connect their accounts and receive personalized music recommendations. Users can prompt the AI to create playlists or manage their Spotify library directly within the ChatGPT interface, enhancing the listening experience.
This feature is available worldwide for ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users, allowing both free and premium Spotify accounts to interact with the assistant. OpenAI reassures users that their data will remain private and protected from unauthorized access.
