Tech Explained
Ultra-wideband (UWB) – UWB is a radio technology that can transmit data over a wide frequency range. In the context of the Moto Tag tracker, UWB provides precise location tracking by calculating distance and direction, facilitating lost item recovery with high accuracy compared to traditional Bluetooth tracking.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) – AI refers to computer systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as understanding natural language and solving problems. Conveyor employs AI to automate vendor security reviews, drastically reducing the manual effort involved for software companies.
Request for Proposal (RFP) – An RFP is a document soliciting proposals from potential suppliers to complete a project or provide services. Conveyor’s expansion into automating RFP processes showcases how AI can simplify and speed up these traditionally lengthy procedures.
Phishing – Phishing is a fraudulent practice where scammers impersonate legitimate entities to deceive individuals into providing sensitive information. The increase in parcel scams reflects a rise in phishing tactics, often misleading victims through fake delivery notices and websites.
Cybersecurity – Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computers, networks, and data from unauthorized access or attacks. The introduction of the Cyber Security Act 2024 demonstrates a growing recognition of the need for robust cybersecurity measures within organizations to counter the threat of scams and data breaches.
